Worker unfairly dismissed after request to WFH from Pakistan

A software developer was unfairly dismissed after her employer refused to accommodate her request to work remotely from Pakistan while she received medical treatment, an employment tribunal has ruled.

Miss Tehmina Akhtar, who had worked for Calrom Ltd, was dismissed in August 2022 after spending two years on a career break. The tribunal heard that Miss Akhtar had travelled to Pakistan for family support while undergoing treatment for anxiety and requested to continue working remotely from there until she was well enough to return to the UK.
