Several staff members at a popular restaurant chain reportedly discovered they had lost their jobs on social media, after missing a WhatsApp text from bosses.
Almost Famous, a burger chain which had sites in Manchester, Leeds and Liverpool, announced earlier this week that all of its sites would be closing with immediate effect.
The business began in Manchester’s Northern Quarter in 2012, igniting a burger craze and a string of imitators across the region. But co-founder Beau Myers admitted this week that the current economic climate and “lingering debt” was too much for the business to survive.
News of Almost Famous’s demise flooded social media after the company made an official announcement, with many long-term customers sharing their sadness at the sudden closure.
