James Watt, co-founder of brewery & bar chain BrewDog, sparked debate recently by dismissing the concept of work-life balance, suggesting it was "invented by people who hate the work that they do."
In a video interview alongside his high-profile fiance Georgia Toffolo, Watt instead advocated for "work-life integration," especially for those passionate about their professions.
Watt's perspective has generated some fierce reaction - not surprising given he hasn't been short of critics in recent years.
But his logic, though perhaps misguided, is understandable and rooted in his entrepreneurial journey. This is, after all, a man so committed to being a businessman that he recently suggested he might delay his wedding for several years so that he could benefit from tax relief for investing in Toffolo’s raw dog food business.
