A Christmas party for staff of Liverpool Football Club was abruptly ended following reports that suspected drug paraphernalia was discovered at the venue.
The event, organised for non-footballing staff and held at Liverpool Cathedral last week, was halted by cathedral staff after what the venue described as an “incident” that did not align with its values.
The Anglican Cathedral, the largest in Britain, stated that it regularly hosts events to help keep the site open and free for public access.
In a statement, a representative said: “During an event in the last week, an incident occurred that was not in line with our core values. The team on duty followed the correct procedures to bring the event to an early close.
