2,000 jobs at risk after Homebase enters administration

DIY chain Homebase has entered administration, with 2,000 staff left unclear about the future of their employment.

The chain’s owners called in administrators after a failed attempt to sell the business.

Earlier this week, it was reported that CDS Superstores – the owner of The Range and Wilko, a firm it also recently saved from collapse – would purchase 75 of 130 remaining Homebase stores.

Chris Dawson, The Range’s billionaire owner, said his firm is “delighted to be able to save so many stores and jobs.”
