NatWest blocks employees from using WhatsApp and Messenger for work comms

Natwest has banned employees from using WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, and Skype for work communications.

The apps were blocked on company phones and devices earlier this month, meaning staff cannot use the messaging platforms at all.

The banking group had previously only advised employees against using channels like Whatsapp, rather than banning it outright.

 “Like many organisations, we only permit the use of approved channels for communicating about business matters, whether internally or externally,” a spokesman for NatWest said.
