A rail operator chief says the firm wants to "unleash the full potential" of modern tech, after admitting staff still rely on faxes for internal comms...
Northern Rail’s Chief Operating Officer, Matt Rice, admitted employees still use the outdated tech, during the latest Rail North Committee (RNC) conference call, chaired by Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham.
Mr Burnham was raising concerns about Northern’s performance and operations, asking questions about resources and staffing levels, when he told Mr Rice he had heard the firm was still using fax machines.
Mr Rice confirmed the rumour to be true, prompting Mr Burnham to ask: “How on Earth is that the case in 2024?”
