Edinburgh Trams has agreed to tackle understaffing and busy schedules that left workers unable to take toilet breaks, settling a dispute that could have led to strike action.
On Monday, October 21, Unite – the union representing Edinburgh Trams staff – confirmed it had reached an agreement with the company over what it described as a “dispute over basic dignity at work.”
Speaking to the BBC, a spokesperson for Edinburgh Trams said it is “pleased” with the outcome of the dispute.
What was the Edinburgh Trams toilet break dispute about?
According to a statement released by Unite, Edinburgh Trams workers were left unable to take toilet breaks or rest periods on a route from Edinburgh Airport to Newhaven.
