A teaching assistant who was sacked over social media posts relating to LGBTQ+ education will have an appeal heard by judges, after a previous ruling had upheld her dismissal.
Kristie Higgs was sacked from Farmor’s School in Gloucestershire in 2019 for sharing two Facebook posts that raised concerns about how transgender and compulsory sex education was to be taught at her son’s Church of England (CofE) primary school.
The posts, which were made under her maiden name on a private account which had no mention of her employer, were made in response to gender identity books being introduced at her son’s Church of England primary school.
The first post shared a petition against compulsory sex education, while the second post shared an article about transgender ideology in children’s books being introduced into UK and US schools.
