Asda employees say the music being played in stores is ‘hindering concentration’ and ‘causing immense stress’ to the workforce.
A petition, backed by hundreds of the supermarket’s staff, contains claims that fed-up workers are heading home mentally drained after listening to ‘royalty free, AI generated music’ for hours on end.
The petition, titled ‘Get Asda radio back’, pleads with the supermarket to scrap its current playlist, which was launched earlier this year and features primarily unheard-of artists and royalty-free tunes that fill customers' ears while they fill their trolleys.
However, while customers will only hear a handful of songs while doing their shopping, employees are listening to the same sounds on repeat throughout their entire workdays and weeks.
