Employees at the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) have been told by the company they must seek permission to drink at company events, following the controversial scandals seen at the organisation linked to alcohol consumption.
CBI staff must ask their line managers if they can drink at the firm’s summer party following more than a dozen harassment allegations at the firm last year.
Allegations included the lobbying group’s former Director General, Tony Danker, being accused of sexual harassment from a female employee, and allegations from another female staff member who said she was raped at a work boat party.
What initially looked like a one-off allegation towards Danker, quickly snowballed into numerous allegations of sexual harassment and assault, and reports revealed a culture rife with misogyny and drug use.
