A former Jet2 cabin crew member who quit following a row over her ‘extreme’ hairstyle has lost a bid for compensation.
Marion McKay, 52, had been suing the budget airline for £22,000. She resigned last year after alleging that airline bosses threatened to ban her from working on flights due to her hairstyle.
McKay took Jet2 to an employment tribunal, claiming emotional distress and loss of earnings. However, the tribunal panel ruled that she was not discriminated against, leading to the dismissal of her claim.
McKay was photographed at the tribunal sporting an “undercut” hairstyle, with the back and sides of her head cut very short, with longer hair on top. A Jet2 manager giving evidence said her hair was “more extreme and shaven” at the time of the incident.
