Boss accused of sexual harassment for shortening his own name to 'Willy'

A warehouse worker accused his boss of sexual harassment over the shortening of his name to “Willy”. 

The employee objected to boss William McGinty's use of the nickname, and demanded that he stop referring to himself in said manner, an employment tribunal heard.

Mr McGinty was known as Willy to his friends, family and even co-workers at Dnata Catering UK, but was asked by the claimant to avoid using the name because of its other common use as a slang term for penis. 

The worker, who had been at the company for just two weeks, also cited the presence of female employees at the company as a key reason why Mr McGinty should stop being called Willy.
