'AdultHumanMale' | 'Gender-critical' worker sacked over 'deliberately provocative' pronouns in email signature

A 'gender critical' council worker was dismissed after including “deliberately provocative” pronouns to his email signature in protest at his employer’s D&I push.

James Orwin, an IT project officer for East Riding of Yorkshire Council, altered his email signature to include "XYchromosomeGuy/AdultHumanMale" after the local authority encouraged staff to consider adding pronouns to their email signature.

He argued that the council was not promoting equality, but rather adopting a "political position it had no mandate to adopt," and described the use of pronouns as a "political gesture designed to intimidate anyone who does not embrace the contested ideology of gender identity."

He also expressed a belief that the efforts to be more inclusive were facilitating “the steady creep of evil."
