PwC cuts half-day Fridays - bosses need to be transparent if axing perks

PwC has announced it is cutting back on its employee benefit of half-days on Fridays, citing “a challenging year” as the reason why.

The company’s CEO, Ian Elliott, told the PwC workforce that the perk would be cut down from eight to six weeks starting this summer.

The perk came about in 2022, after the pandemic, when staff were given the benefit of a half day on Fridays for the summer months of June, July and August.

According to the Financial Times, the internal memo from the CEO stated that “a number of areas” would see “reductions in average bonus per head” - this includes a reduction of the months where staff can leave early on the last day of the week.
