Tesco to shut Express stores early so staff can watch Euro 2024 final

Tesco will close its Express stores in England early this weekend so that staff can watch England play in the Euro 2024 final.

The retailer will roll down the shutters earlier than usual at its 1,800 Express stores in England, closing 7.30pm instead of the usual 10pm-11pm on Sunday, July 14th.

The move will allow thousands of employees enough time to get home (or to their nearest pub) in time for the 8pm kick off. They will still receive the same pay as if they were working till regular closing time, Tesco confirmed.

Stores in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland will continue to operate their normal opening hours.
