Manchester United to cut 250 jobs as owners continue cost-cutting & cultural overhaul

Manchester United plans to axe 250 jobs in a bid to cut costs and streamline the club’s operations.

The football club currently employs more than 1,100 people, which is reportedly the largest headcount of any Premier League club. It is a figure which has risen from 983 in 2021. 

As reported by sports media outlet The Athletic, club staff were told the news in an all-hands meeting, with interim CEO Jean-Claude Blanc earlier this week, alongside the club’s head of HR, Annie Hale. 

Around 800 staff were in attendance to hear the news that their jobs are at risk, according to reports. The report added there was a “solemn mood” among employees when the news was delivered.
