90% of the UK workforce feel disengaged at work and are quiet quitting, according to Gallup’s recent State of the Global Workforce 2024 report.
Quiet quitting is a phenomenon that grew in popularity over the pandemic, whereby employees do the minimum required to stay in a role.
The research also found that 40% of the UK workforce experience daily stress, 20% report feeling daily anger, and 27% report feeling sad every day – which was the second highest for a country in Europe.
In comparison, 67% of US workers report quiet quitting – pointing to a wider disengagement issue in the West.
