A British-Indian bathroom salesman has been awarded over £9,000 after his manager repeatedly mispronounced his name.
Viveak Taneja, who worked at Phoenix Whirlpool, a company selling bathroom fittings, corrected boss Dana Davies multiple times when he called him "Vikesh."
This constant misnaming left Mr Taneja feeling "angry and upset" due to the “significant meaning” his name holds in Hindi.
An argument eventually broke out over Mr Davies’ repeated errors, following which Mr Taneja was sacked after branding his boss an “idiot” and “racist”. However, he has now been awarded compensation after a judge ruled that his dignity had been "violated."
