HR experts have spoken about how flexible work cultures are breaking the taboo of menstrual leave in conversation with women in the workplace.
Global HR experts Remote have weighed in on menstrual leave at work, talking to working women about how they feel more supported managing menstrual symptoms through flexible working policies and wellbeing initiatives.
The story comes as research from healthcare provider SimplyHealth reveals 23% of working women have considered quitting their jobs due to the impact of menopause or menstrual symptoms. Meanwhile, England’s first-ever Menopause Employment Champion, Helen Tomlinson says, “period leave should go hand-in-hand… as part of a broader female health strategy.”
Menstrual health is a key issue impacting all generations of women, non-binary people and transgender men in the workplace, with many feeling a cultural shift is needed at work before feeling comfortable taking specific menstrual or menopause leave over general sick days.
