Women work two months of the year 'for free', something needs to change

Whilst February is generally considered to be one of the most ‘depressing’ months of the year, mid-February also marks another discouraging milestone for a significant portion of the workforce.

According to research from the Trade Union Congress (TUC), this Tuesday marked ‘Women’s Pay Day’, a stark reminder of the persistent gender pay gap that continues to plague workplaces across the UK.

According to the TUC’s latest analysis, women effectively work for free for nearly two months of the year compared to their male counterparts, shedding yet more light on the alarming disparity in wages between men and women.

The TUC's analysis reveals that the gender pay gap currently stands at 14.3%, meaning women must work 52 days – almost two months – before they stop working ‘for free’.
