It's imperative to support staff when leadership changes dramatically

When anyone from a senior leadership team departs suddenly, there is a trickling down of feelings and demands - the company is affected as a whole and at the same time, each individual will have their own personal reaction.

And so it will be for players, staff and even supporters at Birmingham City Football Club, where Wayne Rooney has been sacked as manager after just 83 days in the role.

For some the feelings when this happens to their boss, manager or colleague will be joy, relief, even excitement at the prospect of a new leader. But there is also concern - worry, nervousness, and being thrown into a state of 'limbo' where you just don't know what's going to happen next.
