Corporate transparency | CEOs response to leave request goes viral - is honesty the best policy?

The CEO and founder of hiring and networking platform Unstop has recently made headlines after a screenshot of his conversation with an employee he posted on LinkedIn went viral.

The leader of the company, Ankit Aggarwal, shared an image on his profile with the caption ‘This landed in my WhatsApp today. Employee asking for leave because the party and it’s after party is still on.’

The screenshotted message showed a member of his staff explaining that after a concert he attended the previous night, he was still out at an after party and so wasn’t going to be in the office that day but would speak to his teams in the afternoon.

What might seem like an explanation of absence too honest for the workplace, was surprisingly received very well by the Indian businessman. His response read: ‘Cool, I hope you had a great concert. Take us as well sometime.’
