HR can't afford to be 'scared' of AI anymore, it's time to embrace what it can do

Have you tried to use AI in your work as an HR Professional yet? For most people there are three possible answers - a resounding yes, an 'I've dabbled..' and a firm 'no', usually hooked to feelings of uncertainty.

It's been the buzzword of 2023 and will continue to dominate headlines in 2024, for sure. There's no escaping AI - Chat GPT has just turned one, and AI is in every panel talk you can go to. So, as an HR professional, taking time to understand what it can do for your teams and your work is imperative. It's not just about programmes that write things for you, or create images, although that may well be the place you have started.

With software able to produce a policy for you while you boil the kettle for a cuppa or coffee, it might seem scary that AI is going to take over our jobs, roles and the whole world. That's the fear, isn't it? That AI will replace us. But as the well-used phrase goes: 'AI won't replace people, people using AI will'.

Where does AI fit into HR?

The integration of AI in HR marks a transformative shift in talent management, fostering efficiency, objectivity, and strategic decision-making. Embracing AI empowers HR professionals to streamline routine tasks, such as CV screening and candidate matching, enabling you to focus on more strategic, human-centric aspects of your role. AI-driven tools can analyse vast datasets to identify patterns and trends, providing valuable insights for talent acquisition, employee engagement, and workforce planning.
