Artificial intelligence has an almost unlimited volume of uses within the workplace.
Recently, emerging AI-based tech from the likes of Microsoft and Zoom made headlines for its ability to attend meetings in place of humans, taking notes and summarising key points. Elsewhere, technology headlines dramatically this month announced that AI would be able to assess your employees and actually predict when they would quit.
Now, through the utilisation of what the industry is calling ‘emotion artificial intelligence’ (or EAI, for short), bosses can not only spy on employees through remote monitoring, but essentially have an automated spy, feeding back key information on workers to their leaders through more concise summaries.
Whilst some untrusting bosses may be rubbing their hands together at the thought, it’s clear that this technology, capable of deciphering our innermost feelings based on facial expressions and other subtle cues, poses a significant threat to employee trust, engagement, and overall wellbeing.
