Punctuality is key, but is this punishment for late staff a step too far?

A boss has been slammed over their extreme rule which reportedly punishes staff harshly for being just one minute late to work.

Punctuality should always be expected of employees, but there are often circumstances out of a worker’s control, such as traffic or having to arrange childcare for a poorly child, that can lead to them clocking in a few minutes late.

It would seem unfair to punish honest and rare instances of staff lateness such as these, but one boss’s alleged extreme approach has gone viral.

In a Reddit post titled "Shout out to the worst place I ever worked (minimum wage, of course)", a photo shows a piece of paper in an office which reads: “New Office Rule... For every minute you are late for work, you will be required to work 10 minutes after 6pm.
