Staff turn to payday loans & threaten strikes over missing paychecks

Facebook moderators have threatened walkouts, with some forced to turn to payday loans, after a payroll glitch left many without their wages.

As reported by The Verge, contractors working for the social media giant at an Accenture site in Austin, Texas, are facing a ‘payroll disaster’ that has left many without their most recent wage packets.

According to the online tech publication, workers at the site handle moderation, customer service, and other tasks for Facebook and WhatsApp.

The problems began as early as January 4th, says The Verge, when some workers noticed errors in the system that tracks paid time off (PTO), following a recent change in payroll system providers.
