IKEA has launched an investigation following reports that surveillance cameras were placed in the ceilings of toilets and locker areas at one of its UK depots.
As reported by Cambridge Live and later the BBC, the international furniture giant was found to have installed cameras in the void above the ceilings in these areas of IKEA's Peterborough distribution centre in 2015.
IKEA claims the decision was made “for the purpose of maintaining a safe workplace.”
The cameras have since been removed and an investigation has been launched into their placement, after some employees reportedly discovered and complained about them.
