Bi Visibility Day 2021 is underway across the world. Marked each year since 1999, the event is set up “to highlight the achievements of the bi community and tackle discrimination”, according to Pink News.
The annual celebration, taking place on September 23, also marks the start of Bisexual Awareness Week.
Why it’s important
There are many difficulties faced uniquely by bisexual people, as opposed to the wider LGBT+ community. It should perhaps come as little surprise, given that the Office for National Statistics (ONS) suggested less than one per cent of the British population are bisexual.
