A fifth of LGBT+ workers in the UK feel coming out to colleagues will put them at a disadvantage, a new report has found.
The stark figures were revealed by the Boston Consulting Group (BCG), in its new “Out@Work” report which examined the integration of LGBT+ talent in the workplace.
A global survey of approximately 8,800 people in 18 countries, the study reveals that one in five (21%) of UK respondents believe coming out is a disadvantage at work, the 10th highest percentage of the 18 countries surveyed.
On the flip side, nearly one in four (23%) UK workers believe coming out at work is an advantage, although this is much higher in Australia (50%), the US (43%) and in Germany (32%).
