In the last few years, several people have found themselves in hot water with their employers after historic comments or tweets have resurfaced.
The most recent case to hit headlines is regarding the director of the Tokyo Olympics opening ceremony, who has been fired after historical footage emerged of him allegedly making jokes about the Holocaust.
According to the BBC, footage of Kentaro Kobayashi from the 1990s recently emerged where he reportedly makes the jokes.
A clip, which was widely shared on Japanese social media this week, showed comedian Kobayashi in a TV sketch 23 years ago which included the line “Let’s play Holocaust”, according to the Independent.
