Experts respond to PM's announcement on 'Freedom Day' changes

This week, Prime Minister Boris Johnson once again took to the podium inside No. 10 Downing Street to address the nation about the lifting of coronavirus restrictions in England – with there being several implications on the world of work.

In his announcement, Johnson confirmed that the current remote working order is set to end as part of the final step of the roadmap.

Among other key points on the reopening of the hospitality industry and regulations on facemasks, Johnson confirmed that as of July 19, 2021 – should step four proceed –  the Government will no longer require people to work from home.

For those looking to return to a place of work, all rules on limits to gatherings both inside and out will be lifted, along with the removal of the ‘one-metre-plus’ guidance in most settings.
