Pride month is celebrated each year throughout June, in part, to honour the 1969 Stonewall uprising in Manhattan.
June is said to be chosen as the month to celebrate Pride as it was the month in which the original Stonewall uprising took place – protests that changed gay rights for many in America and around the world.
