'Family or work' | Apple employees 'revolt' over office return plans

In a company-wide memo sent to staff last week, Apple Chief Executive Tim Cook revealed that the company plans to require all staff to return to the office for a minimum of three days per week, starting from September – with some teams expected to return full-time.

In the memo, seen by The Verge, Cook told employees that there were some aspects of working life that remote working “simply cannot replicate”.

"For all that we've been able to achieve while many of us have been separated, the truth is that there has been something essential missing from this past year: each other," Cook wrote, as reported by The Verge.

However, this week Cook faced a revolt from staff who take issue with the company’s revised approach to remote working, as outlined in a formal letter sent to the boss that explained how the new policy is of concern to working parents, and other staff who, it alleges, have already been forced to quit as a result.
