Low paid workers at highest risk of job losses when furlough ends

New analysis from the think tank Resolution Foundation has indicated that low-paid UK workers face the highest risk of losing their roles when the Government’s Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS) closes later in the year.

Despite the scheme's benefits, the Guardian reported that economists have expressed concerns that some roles will not be viable when the furlough scheme comes to an end in September 2021.

Hardest hit

According to an annual assessment by the Resolution Foundation, the anticipated increase in unemployment is likely to hit lower-paid workers the hardest. This is said to be in line with the experience of the financial crisis more than 10 years ago.
