Brexit-backing Wetherspoons boss denies claims he faces staff shortages

Tim Martin, the pro-Brexit boss of pub chain JD Wetherspoon, has denied claims that his pubs are facing staff shortages as a result of Brexit despite reports on comments he made regards EU migration.

His denials come after an interview with the Daily Telegraph in which he reportedly said: “The UK has a low birth rate. A reasonably liberal immigration system controlled by those we have elected, as distinct from the EU system, would be a plus for the economy and the country.”

Both comments were made in the context of a hospitality industry which is reportedly struggling with staff shortages as pandemic and Brexit problems bite.
