How Sony Music is tackling the 'sensitive subject' of mental health

The stigma associated with mental health has long been tackled by campaigners, but for some time now HR teams have also started to recognise the impact they can have on beating this workplace taboo.

One business who is tackling this “somewhat sensitive subject matter” is Sony Music Entertainment UK and its Vice President of HR, Liz Jeffery.

Following Mental Health Awareness Week (which took place between May 10-16, 2021), Jeffery shared with HR Grapevine that the firm has made “the mental health and wellbeing of our team a top priority for many years” which has namely been “driven in large part by the personal passion of our Chairman and CEO, Jason Iley MBE”.

And throughout 2020, Iley continued to encourage staff members to consider how they could improve their wellbeing and to reach out to the business’ leadership team about what adjustments or support they may need.
