Pfizer/ BioNTech | COVID-19 vaccine 'made possible' by workplace gender equality, says medical chief

Over the last few months, the news has been awash with coverage of the vaccine rollout as operations ramp up and more people receive a dose of the vaccine.

The Co-Founder and Chief Medical Officer of BioNtech, Özlem Türeci, has attributed its speed at producing a viable vaccine to the fact that its workforce is more than 50% female – the Guardian reported.

The Pfizer/BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine was the first to be approved in the UK. Türeci said it was the organisation’s “gender-balanced team” that was critical to making the “impossible possible” – creating a jab in 11 months.
