Couriers claim 'racist' company tech cost them employment

Several couriers working for Uber Eats claim that they have been let go due to the organisation’s “racist” facial identification software not being able to recognise their faces.

14 couriers working for the online food ordering and delivery platform shared evidence with WIRED demonstrating how the tech failed to recognise their faces.

According to the article, some claim they were threatened with termination, had accounts frozen or were permanently let go after selfie images failed the firm’s “Real Time ID Check”. Another claimed they were fired after the selfie function wouldn’t work.
