Recent analysis from the Trades Union Congress (TUC) found that UK workers have put in a staggering £24billion worth of unpaid overtime during the coronavirus crisis.
According to the data, more than three million people completed unpaid overtime work in 2020, putting in an average of 7.7 unpaid hours per week.
On average, that is said to be equivalent to £7,300 a year of wages going unpaid for the work completed.
Despite this, the analysis found that unpaid overtime was lower than in 2019 – which was likely due to the fact that many workers were furloughed or worked reduced hours to care or home-school children in lockdown.
