‘Highly controversial’ | 'Changes to 48-hour week' could give HR more work

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson is reportedly thinking about a post-Brexit overhaul of labour laws – with the 48-hour working week limit and paid holiday reportedly up for debate. 

This has sparked massive arguments in the political world. 

Whilst Johnson has said that the UK won’t “regress” on worker’s rights – a Government spokesperson added: “We have absolutely no intention of lowering the standards of workers’ rights… the UK has one of the best workers’ rights records in the world” – others say it shows workers priorities aren’t being met by the Government. 

Ed Miliband, Shadow Business Secretary, tweeted: “This leak exposes the truth about the Government's priorities, which are way out of step with the needs of workers and their families.”
