Chancellor Rishi Sunak has outlined an increased support package for businesses impacted by the new Tier 2 lockdown restrictions.
Speaking in the House of Commons, the Chancellor detailed a new plan to help firms in Tier 2 “high risk” areas of England who have seen their trade drop due to the COVD-19 restrictions.
Currently, businesses impacted in Tier 2 areas do not receive the same Government aid as those within Tier 3 areas. This aid includes business grants and higher wage subsidies as businesses in this category must close under restrictions, however this support has changed today.
Sunak said: “It is clear that even businesses who can stay open are facing profound economic uncertainty.”
