CEO 'demands' workers return to office for his 'personal life'

Despite a September U-turn over a push to get workers back into the office, many are still heading back – and for some bizarre and illogical reasons.

“Our CEO thrives on office life – it’s very much a part of his personal life,” explains Jasmine*, speaking to WIRED. “He wants everyone back in for personal reasons. And to ensure everyone is working and not slacking off.”

What Jasmine describes is a situation that many workers, for maybe not exactly the same reasons, are currently living through.

Many individuals, speaking to a wide range of business publications, said that they fear promotions might be out of reach, or that they might be accused of not working, if they don’t show face in a central setting.
