REVEALED | The UK cities happiest ditching the work commute

For many, the daily work commute would typically consist of squashed tube carriages, train delays, costly travel cards and traffic jams therefore it is unsurprising that some Brits would opt to work from home.

With UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson now telling Brits to ‘work from home if you can’, a new study by Hitachi Personal Finance has revealed the UK cities that are happiest ditching the daily commute during lockdown and how much they could potentially save by working from home long term.

Sheffield (15%), Belfast & Birmingham (11%), Liverpool & Newcastle (ten per cent), Leeds (nine per cent) and London (eight per cent) were revealed as the top UK cities finding happiness in being able to save time and money by not having to commute to a central workplace.

Almost one in ten (eight per cent) UK adults said that saving money on the commute during the coronavirus lockdown period has made them happy.
