The HR thinking behind Google's latest work perk

Work perks play an important role in helping the HR function achieve some of the things it looks after such as employee engagement, retention and talent attraction.

To help attract and retain talent, the Silicon Valley giant Google has introduced a new work perk to help staff members pay off their student loans.

According to CNBC, the tech firm will match up to £1,956 ($2,500) per full-time employee each year towards their student loan payments. Staff were told via an internal email seen by CNBC. This benefit will come into effect from 2021.

The new work benefit will be rolled out in the US first, but the firm plans to expand this to employees on a global scale.
