In the workplace, it is important that all workers are treated fairly and are not discriminated against due to a protected characteristic such as age for example.
Despite this, a worker has won a £15,000 age discrimination payout after a tribunal heard that she was repeatedly ‘mocked over her age’.
According to The Metro, a tribunal heard that younger colleagues made fun of Sue Walsh – who was 63-years-old at the time – by yelling ‘Sue! Sue! Sue!’ when she didn’t hear them.
The counter assistant, who started working at St Chad’s chemist in Greater Manchester in 2017, said that she was ‘mocked from the outset’ by staff who were 40 years younger than her.
