Internet speed & cafés | The BEST UK city for remote working

The number of people working from home over the last few months has increased tenfold, as many businesses closed their workspaces in order to help curb the spread of coronavirus.

In fact, statistics shared by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) have revealed that 49% of workers reported working from home at some point in the seven days to June 14, up from 41% the previous week, a stark contrast from 2019 where only five per cent of the active UK workforce considered their home as their main place of work.

Due to this, property destination Zoopla has identified the best locations to work remotely in the UK by analysing the average internet speed, number of people working from home, number of cafés and average property prices.

In order to find the best location, Zoopla gave each town and city a score out of 100 based on the above metrics, which resulted in Birmingham coming out on top. The city based in the West Midlands garnered a score of 69.8 thanks to boasting an internet speed of 74.1Mbps and an average property price of £187, 850.
