With temperatures set to soar this week again to 33 degrees after a sizzling weekend, it may come as no surprise to hear that more than one-third of Brits were expected to skive or bunk off work last Friday, where temperatures reached up to 36 degrees in some areas of the south-east.

Those statistics were shared by employment law experts at KLG Law, who stated that around 30% to 40% of employees would not properly work on the hottest day of the year.

As more employees work from home, with many choosing not to take annual leave as frequently due to the lockdown restrictions, when the weather is warm it may be the case that some employees will take advantage of their home working arrangements.

“It’s important to remember though before some of these employees are ridiculed, that many employees right now are feeling burnt out, strained and exhausted. Annual leave is being taken less frequently than normal at this time of year owing to the lockdown restrictions,” said Anita Kalra, Managing Director of KLG Law.
