An employer has built a replica of its own office in a Nintendo game to aide in attracting a diverse slate of candidates.
The independent creative agency Waste has developed a virtual version of its London-based office on its own island in the popular Nintendo game Animal Crossing: New Horizons. The mock-office showcases the Boardroom, artwork that hangs in the space and staff desks – many of which are covered with papers and storyboards – to give prospective candidates a flavour of what the working environment looks like.
In addition, the space also features a virtual message board where a creative brief is currently posted. The idea is that anyone over 18-years-old can respond to the creative brief and can be in with a chance of winning a three-month paid internship at the end.
Linda Nguyen, HR Manager at Waste told HR Grapevine, that the firm has always been about communities and they thought this would be a great way to reach ‘the next generation of creatives’ outside of their usual recruitment channels.
