In recent weeks, much has changed in the UK’s approach to combatting the COVID-19 pandemic.
In the Government’s daily briefings last week, it was confirmed that the grasp on controlling the levels of infection and death within the UK was at a stage in which Prime Minister Boris Johnson and his advisors were confident in lowering the current threat level from four, meaning the COVID-19 epidemic was in general circulation and transmission was high or rising exponentially, to three, in which only the former is true.
Now, speculation is rife around Johnson’s Tuesday address to the nation, in which he is touted to unveil his plans to reopen the hospitality sector on July 4 and announce the result of the currently imposed two-metre rule.
Before any announcements are made, ITV News confirmed that the PM will meet with his senior Cabinet colleagues and scientific advisors to discuss how the UK is currently coping, and whether the nation risks a second wave of the virus if the hospitality sector were to reopen.
